What is smart signal TPMS, you ask? I will be happy to explain it to you. Smart Signal is a tire pressure monitoring system, TPMS for short. It is one of those advances in the field of automotive support systems that is a must have for every car owner, regardless of the brand or model. Checking tire air pressure by visual inspection or via air gauge is a thing of the past.

What a tire pressure monitoring system does is that it monitors the air pressure of a vehicle’s tires and displays the readings in real time. The task is accomplished by a group of sophisticated sensors that are either fitted over the tire’s air valves or inside the tires. These sensors measure the air pressure levels and display it on a compact LCD screen fitted on the dashboard.  There is also a smartphone app that comes with Smart Signal TPMS, that basically does the same thing.

The data from the tires is analysed in real time by the onboard control module and visual or audio warnings are generated for abnormal tire pressure, temperature, air leaks, etc.

Why do you need Smart Signal TPMS?

Tire Pressure Management Systems (TPMS) are really clever pieces of modern technology, designed to monitor the air pressure in a car’s tires.  The main idea behind a TPMS is convenience and safety. Under or over inflated tires, are prone to tire bursts, can cause serious accidents.  A TPMS prevents that from happening and prompts the driver to check their tires.

These systems are nothing new but have greatly improved over the years. Our tire pressure monitoring system, Smart Signal TPMS is the product of latest technology and innovation. It allows the driver to keep an eye on air pressure and temperature for each individual tires. Furthermore, it alerts the driver when there are any problems. Most drivers so not check pay enough attention to their tires and this causes problems, because air pressure cannot be properly checked with visual inspection only.

How does Smart Signal TPMS work?

The system consists of a couple of sensors, depending on the number of tires, one attached to each wheel. These sensors transmit data to the control module, which is inside the car. The data is displayed on an onboard LCD attached on the dashboard, a cigarette lighter display or even the driver’s smartphone. This is how flexible Smart Signal TPMS really is.

The sensors detect air pressure and temperature from the inside of the wheel and transmit it in real time. Each sensor is created to consume very little power and the batteries themselves last very long.

The data is sent wirelessly to the on board control module, it is more efficient this way. Individual sensors have unique serial numbers; this is how the system identifies one tire from the other.

The two kinds of TPMS:

Indirect TPMS

This kind of tpms has knob shaped sensors that fit on the air valves. They work by calculating the rate of revolutions for each wheel, the raw data is sent to an onboard computer which processes it to information. The control module compares the tire sizes and shapes to previous data. Based on these readings it can measure the tire air pressure.  Similar to other tpms our system sends a warning to the driver whenever there is a change in the air pressure, all this is done in real time.

In simple words the system monitors the tire sizes, shape and notifies the driver when it detects a sudden change in the shape of a tire.

 Direct TPMS

The direct tire pressure monitoring system is much more complicated, albeit a more accurate device. It consists of high tech and sensitive sensors that are installed inside the tires, instead of on the outside. This is one of the reasons for the system’s accuracy. The sensors are capable of measuring the air pressure as well as temperature, so it can alert the driver when the tires become too hot.

Similar to its indirect Tpms counterpart, the direct Tpms sensors send all data to the onboard control module, which converts the data into useful information and displays it.

Here are some of the reasons you need Smart Signal TPMS:

It Increases tire life:

Low or abnormal tire air pressure drastically reduces its life. It can cause the tire’s shape to change.  Another problem that arises due to improper air pressure is that the side walls of the tires start to get weak. This can cause the tire to fail, before its time. Drivers are familiar with this problem, and it is quite dangerous for a tire.  Smart Signal TPMS will increase the life of your tires and you will feel the improvement in your car’s performance.

Safety:

Tires are the most important part of a vehicle; these are the parts that make contact with the road. So it is a good idea to keep an eye on their condition. Under inflated tires will cause your vehicle to wobble or drive differently. The change is so big that the driver will be able to feel it. The steering will also feel loose. The solution to this problem is to keep an eye on tire pressure, and what better way to do that than get Smart Signal TPMS.

Our system has been rigorously tested to expose any flaws or manufacturing faults, so that the end product is reliable and fault free.

Smart Signal TPMS alerts the driver of abnormal tire pressure.

This system sends audible and visible warnings to the driver, when there is any problem with the tires. Whether the tires are getting hot or the tires are over or under inflated. Smart Signal TPMS, displays tire pressure and temperature for each tire so it is easy to differentiate.  For the

Tires get hot

Let’s face it Tire burst/blowouts are dangerous and the accidents that they cause can be horrible. Most tire blowouts occur due to high temperatures. When the rubber meets the road, temperatures are sure to rise. Smart Signal TPMS warns the driver when the one or all the tires are getting too hot for comfort. This feature can save you from injury and prevent property damage.

Smart Signal TPMS sends data to your smartphone

Our TPMS is unique in this way that it sends all the data to the driver’s smartphone. This is convenience at its very best. Our system uses the one device that you have on your person at all times, your smartphone. The smartphone app is free and works on both Android and iOS. It uses Bluetooth 4.0 to communicate with your device.

This article is a treasure trove of useful information on Smart Signal TPMS and tire pressure monitoring systems in general.

First of all you need to know about the types of Smart Signal TPMS

Indirect TPMS:

An Indirect TPMS, as the name suggests, fits over a wheel’s air intake valve. That’s the tiny valve through which air is filled in a car’s tires. The indirect TPMS has built in wheel speed sensors. These specialized sensors measure the rate of revolutions for each wheel. This data is then sent to the onboard computer, which uses it and other data such as vehicle speed to make complex calculations.

Taking into account the rate of revolution of each wheel, the computer can calculate the relative size of the tires on your vehicle. When a wheel starts spinning faster than expected, the computer calculates that the tire is under-inflated and alerts the driver accordingly. The alerts can be anything from a warning light to an alarm or smartphone alerts.

Direct TPMS

A Direct TPMS is much more complicated. It uses air pressure and temperature monitoring sensors, installed inside a vehicle’s tires that monitor pressure and temperature levels. The sensors in the Smart Signal direct TPMS can even provide tire temperature readings. The direct TMPS sends tire pressure and temperature data to a control module where it’s analyzed, and, if tire pressure is lower or higher than it should be, transmitted directly to your LCD display or smartphone. Smart Signal TPMS sends all of this data wirelessly, using Bluetooth 4.0 to transmit. Each sensor has a unique serial number; this is how the system identifies and differentiates between each tire.

How does Smart Signal TPMS work?

Smart Signal TPMS, being an electronic system, is installed inside or outside a vehicle’s tires. Its advanced sensors keep an eye on the exact air pressure and temperature of vehicle’s tires. The data is then conveyed, in real-time, to the on-board display screen or to a smartphone.

Why should you install Smart Signal TPMS in your vehicle?

Everyone reading this article will probably be asking, ‘why do I need this system with complicated looking sensors inside my tires?’  The answer is simpler than you think; the system and the sensors are there to protect your vehicle’s tires.

Tire burst/blowout related accidents, are a direct result of under or over inflated tires. These accidents can cause serious personal injuries, property damages and even deaths. Drivers pay little attention to their vehicle’s tires, and forget how important they really are. There is however, another problem. Drivers don’t regularly check tire pressure, because it’s difficult to gauge the inflation level visually, without using a pressure gauge.

This is where Smart Signal TPMS comes in; it monitors your vehicle’s tire pressure and temperature, so you don’t have to. Properly inflated and well maintained tires are important safety measures that should not be neglected, regardless of the conditions.

What you need to know before buying Smart Signal Tire Pressure Monitoring System

A car’s tires are one of its most crucial and important parts. It is the part that comes in direct contact with the road. This is exactly why tires need constant maintenance and this is where a tire pressure monitoring system comes into play.

Smart Signal Tire Pressure Monitoring System is installed inside the tires on different types of vehicles. It reports real-time data about your vehicle’s tires, such as tire pressure and temperature to the driver of the vehicle.

Smart Signal can measure air pressure and temperature starting from 4 tires up to 22 tires.

What kind of Smart Signal TPMS is right for you?

There are two types of Smart Signal TPMS available in the market, Indirect and Direct Tpms. Here is what you need to know about both:

 Indirect TPMS

An Indirect TPMS consists of sensors that fit on a tire’s air valves. The sensors work by calculating the rate of wheel revolutions, the data is sent to an on-board computer in the vehicle to compare the tire size and shape to previous values. Based on the data and readings from the sensors, the system can monitor the tire pressure. The system warns the driver when it detects abnormalities in the tire’s shape.

In layman terms this interprets changes in a tire’s shape and size and attributes it to a loss of pressure due to deflation or punctures.

 Direct TPMS

The direct TPMS is much more complicated, but in a good way. It has high-tech pressure monitor sensors installed in each tire. These sensors measure not only tire pressure but also their temperature. The data is sent to the onboard computer which in turn sends it to an LCD display mounted on the dashboard. It alerts the driver when things are about to go wrong i.e. abnormal tire pressure and temperature. If the tire temperature or pressure becomes too low, a warning light and or an alarm is displayed on the LCD display.

All this data is sent wirelessly. Each sensor has a unique serial number or ID; this is how the system identifies one tire from the other. Smart Signal TPMS also has an android and iPhone app which sends the data directly to the driver’s smartphone.

Types of Smart Signal TPMS

Tire pressure management systems (TPMS) are fascinating. Ten years ago, people would have never even imagined of a device that could provide real-time data about their vehicle’s tires. We live in amazing era.

There are two different types of TPMS in the market.

Indirect TPMS:

Indirect TPMS

Indirect TPMS typically fits over a wheel’s air intake valve. It has built in wheel speed sensors, the same sensors that the anti-lock brake system uses. These specialized sensors measure the rate of revolutions each wheel is making. This data is used by on-board computer systems to compare with each other and to other data such as vehicle speed.
Taking into account the rate of revolution of each wheel, the computer can calculate the relative size of the tires on your vehicle. When a wheel starts spinning faster than expected, the computer calculates that the tire is under-inflated and alert the driver accordingly.

An indirect tire pressure monitor is not like the Direct TPMS. It measures the speed at which the vehicle’s tires are rotating and sends signals to a computer. The computer, in turn, will notify the driver, via an indicator light, on an LCD display, or smartphone.

Direct TPMS

Direct Smart Signal TPMS

A Direct TPMS is much more complicated. It uses pressure monitoring sensors, installed inside each tire, that monitor pressure levels. The sensors in the Smart Signal direct TPMS can even provide tire temperature readings. The Smart Signal direct TMPS sends tire pressure and temperature data to a control module where it’s analyzed, interpreted, and, if tire pressure is lower or higher than it should be, transmitted directly to your LCD display, smartphone or other display. Smart Signal TPMS sends all of this data wirelessly. Each sensor has a unique serial number; this is how the system identifies each tire.
